Mike Taillie

I’m 48 and wondering how come 50 is coming around so quickly. I’m married to Emma and have three fantastic kids. Ben is ten,  Jack, nine and Caroline, six. Life’s pretty busy with the business and family. I spend my time attempting that ‘life-balance’ thing everyone keeps talking and writing about. Goals are to keep under 90kg and get to 85kg, spend time up at the bach and have fun at work producing marketing campaigns that exceed all client expectations.

Other interests are playing golf very badly, attempting to fully appreciate good wines and at some stage learning to write well. I also promised myself that one day I would run a marathon… yeah, right!

Travis Field

I’m 41 years old and have been married to Susan for 18 years (and in a business marriage with Mike for 16!). I have two delightful children, Isabella and George.
I really enjoy being in business with Mike and Dallas.  They are both very entrepreneurial.  It both scares and excites me.  We have developed an amazing team around us and I am proud of what we do and the great relationships with our clients that we enjoy.  Publishing, I personally like the feeling I have when I sit down and enjoy a magazine – setting aside time to indulge myself. I like to think that I am giving that same enjoyment to the readers of our magazines. I want to produce quality magazines that provide enjoyment and/or value to people’s lives.  NZ Trade Centre, what a buzz when an exporter tells us that they wrote new business as a result of an international business person seeing their product on display at the centre.  No.1 Queen St, we are having some great fun down there and NZ brands and agencies are starting to use the venue to creatively engage with the public.

Before joining Mike in business I was a Captain in the NZ Army.  The planning skills, problem solving, ability to work under pressure etc I learnt are fantastic for the business world.  Business can have its moments, but it generally isn’t life or death.  My interests outside of work are my family, cooking, beer, wine, single malt whisky, and being in New Zealand’s beautiful bush. I also enjoy “men’s work” specifically www.mkp.org.nz and working with Big Buddy www.bigbuddy.co.nz
